Le Forum AGOA 2015 (African Growth and Opportunity Act sur la croissance et les opportunités de développement en Afrique sub-saharienne) aura lieu à Libreville, la capitale du Gabon, du 24 au 27 août prochain.  Le thème du 14e forum est « AGOA 15 ans : Pérennisation du partenariat pour le commerce et l’investissement entre les États-Unis et l’Afrique ». Ce thème est particulièrement opportun puisque l’AGOA a été prorogé cette année pour une période additionnelle de dix ans jusqu’en 2025.
L’AGOA est une loi américaine promulguée en mai 2000 afin de permettre aux pays d’Afrique subsaharienne d’exporter sur le marché américain sans droit de douane dans le but de favoriser la coopération commerciale et économique entre le continent et les Etats-Unis d’Amérique.  Elle constitue l’élément central de la politique commerciale des Etats-Unis vers l’Afrique.
Plus de 800 participants dont des responsables politiques américains et africains, des membres du secteur privé et de la société civile sont attendus à Libreville.

AGOA Forum 2015 in Libreville (Gabon) from August 24th to 27th 2015

The 2015 AGOA Forum (African Growth and Opportunity Act on growth and development opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa) will take place in Libreville, capital of Gabon, from August 24th to August 27th. The theme of the 14th Forum is “AGOA at 15: Charting a course for a sustainable U.S.-Africa Trade and Investment Partnership”. This theme is particularly timely, since AGOA was extended this year for an additional period of ten years until 2025.

AGOA is a US law enacted in May 2000 to allow SSA countries to export to the US market without customs duty in order to promote trade and economic cooperation between the Continent and the United States of America. It is the centerpiece of the trade policy of the United States towards Africa.

More than 800 participants including American and African policymakers, members of the private sector and civil society are expected in Libreville.
